Broken Promises – #BarAThon Day 7

A promise he made

A promise she made

To stick together through thick and thin

Days went by

Their love bore a fruit

Am the apple of their eyes

They promised me soon

A promise he broke

A promise she broke

To love each other round the clock

He went his way

And she on hers

No one cared for the apple again

I made a promise to myself that day

Never to make a promise again

Promises are made to be broken

  1. I see the poem as the feelings expressed by a child. That she has a write to express. I feel her pain, and her search for answers, her sense of being somehow bad, being confused and hurt. but i’d stop there. not go into judgements on modern family life and couples and so on. Witch hunts begin that way.

    1. I get your point, Kiran. We can’t judge anyone. What the parents have gone through, the child might not be able to understand. And what the child goes through no one will be able to understand. It’s like what my Dad says. Everyone is right in their own shoes. Every person has a reason which might or might not sound right to another person. Thank you for dropping by!
