Metamorphosis is a biological process by which an animal physically develops after birth or hatching, involving a conspicuous and relatively abrupt change in the animal’s body structure through cell growth and differentiation. Some insects, amphibians, molluscs, crustaceans, Cnidarians, echinoderms and tunicates undergo metamorphosis, which is usually accompanied by a change of habitat or behavior. (Courtesy: Wikipedia)
In molecular biology transformation is genetic alteration of a cell resulting from the direct uptake, incorporation and expression of exogenous genetic material (exogenous DNA) from its surroundings and taken up through the cell membrane(s). Transformation occurs naturally in some species of bacteria, but it can also be affected by artificial means in other cells. (Courtesy: Wikipedia)
What? Is it all seeming like a Biology lecture?
No, not at all. It’s not a biology lecture that I am gonna deliver. These are two words that came to my mind as soon as I thought of 2013. We ought to undergo metamorphosis, our society, our surroundings and we ourselves. The change has to happen from us. It ought to begin from ME and YOU. If only we change ourselves into better human beings, we can change things and people around us.
If we do not learn from our mistakes, and continue to ignore all the malicious incidents happening around us, we can be rest assured that we are getting into a black hole.
Yes, a Black Hole with nothing but violence all over.
A whirlpool of pain, agony, anguish, torment and suffering.
Or else if we wish to change all this that has happened in the recent past, we’ll need to bring about a revolution. A real revolution that makes the negligible few rogues that defame our society and our country, ashamed and forced to surrender. Yes, negligible they are. They seem to be a big bunch, coz we let them make us feel so. Just imagine if each one of us stands up against one such incident in unity, will these bastards ever have the courage to behave in this fashion? Never!
I’m sure, without the man-woman differentiation, each of us would have witnessed some such occasions, in the bus, in the metro, on the roads, in a crowded market place, in a train, in a parking lot, right on the street in front of your house.
These criminals are not born in a second, an hour or a day. They have been well nurtured by us. We have fed them on our fear, our ignorance of the law, our attitude of ‘mujhe kya lena dena’, ‘mein kyun kisike pachde mein padoon’….
A friend said something really thoughtful:
We keep teaching our daughters things that’ll help her lead a peaceful married life. Have we at the same time ever taught our sons, how to behave properly with girls, coz tomorrow he’s gonna bring one home?
Never! I’m sure 95% of our household have not done so. The problem is within our households. We make boys feel that they are a superior lot. Instead we should teach them to respect girls, the same way we teach them to respect elders. I’m sure the accused in the Delhi gang-rape would have been guys, who touch the feet of elders when they are at their home-town. What is the use of such made-up respect? Feel it and then show it.
Make your children feel at par with each other. In fact, teach your sons to show a little more care and protective attitude for the girls he comes across. The least, please treat her not as a commodity, but as a fellow human being.
The freedom-fighters shed their blood and that is why we have this place to live our life. It’s time for us to channelise our anger into making such incidents reduce and in time vanish.
Why should we be scared?
Let the wrong-doers be scared of us.
Let’s pledge today not to ignore even the smallest of such case and stand for what is right.
Only then we’ll be able to transform our country into a peacefully liveable place for our future generations.
Let the revolution begin from our own homes.
Before signing off, I wish each one of you a Very Happy, Healthy, Wealthy, Peaceful and Safe Year ahead.
